Engineering
World-class industrial equipment starts with first-rate engineering expertise.
We develop innovative solutions to tackle real-world technical challenges and boost productivity in the construction, forestry, oil and gas, and renewable energy sectors, among others. These efforts are driven by our dedicated team of engineering and manufacturing experts.
Engineering Fundamentals
Although we employ complex models, processes and tests to develop high-quality products, our underlying approach to engineering at Viking West is simple: we continually enhance functionality and performance to provide customers with increased productivity, improved durability, and low maintenance and repair costs.
Customer-Focused Engineering
To develop effective solutions, we need to start with a deep understanding of the challenges you face. Our engineers collaborate closely with our customers to analyze and meet their technical needs. Whether it’s selecting the right equipment from our existing product line or engineering a customized solution, we are committed to a customer-focused approach.
Design Process
We are constantly striving to boost performance. That’s why our design process focuses on continuous improvement through a cycle of design-build-test-repeat. Within this process, our engineering team uses design failure modes effect analysis (DFMEA) to evaluate and develop action plans for design risks.
Manufacturing Engineering
Our manufacturing engineers leverage their deep expertise and the capabilities of our ISO 9001:2008 facility to maximize quality and cost-efficiency. We utilize quality-control plans and process failure modes analysis (PFMEA) to evaluate and mitigate manufacturing process risks. The end result is innovative products and customized equipment that generate value for our customers.
Field Testing
Field testing plays a critical role in validating the quality of Viking West industrial equipment. To ensure that you can rely on the performance and durability of our products, our engineering processes draw upon data and insights from various sources, including:
- Engineering mule physical testing
- Strain gauging to validate design load assumptions
- Accelerated life-expectancy testing
- Customer/operator feedback
