Edmonton LRT River Crossing

Project Summary

During construction of Edmonton’s new Light Rail Transit crossing over the North Saskatchewan River, Clearflow Gel Flocculant treatment was used to manage water generated during installation of the bridge piling system. The treatment program supported construction throughout 2017 and 2018.

Water collected within the cofferdams was treated on site and safely released back to the river. This approach simplified water management, improved construction efficiency, and generated substantial savings by reducing operational time and the risk of regulatory non-compliance.

Key Results

  • Supported piling and cofferdam operations during the 2017 and 2018 construction seasons.
  • Treated construction water directly within the active river-crossing site.
  • Enabled the immediate release of treated water back to the North Saskatchewan River.
  • Improved operational efficiency and reduced water-management delays.
  • Delivered substantial cost savings while helping mitigate the risk of regulatory fines.
