Mary River Iron Mine Project
Project Summary
The Mary River Mine is a major high-grade iron ore operation on northern Baffin Island. Its location in an environmentally sensitive Arctic region creates demanding requirements for surface-water management, erosion control and protection of the surrounding tundra and aquatic environment.
In 2015, Clearflow Group and its products were selected to provide surface-water treatment and erosion and sediment-control support for the approximately $4.1-billion mine development. Clearflow continued supporting the site as it developed, helping reduce environmental risk within this remote and sensitive setting.
Key Results
- Selected to support surface-water treatment across a major Arctic mining project.
- Provided erosion and sediment-control products and technical services.
- Helped manage environmental risk in one of Canada’s most sensitive mining regions.
- Supported the mine during its development and transition into operations.
- Demonstrated the suitability of Clearflow Gel Flocculant technology for remote, demanding mine sites.
